Project Description

The London Borough of Barnet has an asset portfolio worth over £1.3 billion, including libraries, depots, schools, community buildings, and to date has undertaken a limited number of energy efficiency measures. The first phase contained 12 buildings which included;

• Libraries
• Community Buildings
• Depots
• Support Centre
• Office Buildings
• Sports Facilities
• Schools

The London Borough of Barnet selected Asset+ to work in partnership with them over the coming years to develop, design and deliver cost-effective energy and carbon infrastructure upgrades. The London Borough of Barnet is committed to reducing energy consumption and the associated financial and environmental costs, whilst ensuring that the Borough is a great place to live, work and visit.

The works are being funded through a blended finance approach utilising Barnet’s capital replacement and back log maintenance budget alongside interest-free Government funding available to the public sector to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower energy bills.

The project has involved the deployment of numerous energy reduction and zero carbon generation measures which have been aggregated to create the best value solution for the London Borough of Barnet including building control optimisation, solar photovoltaics, LED lighting, insulation and improvements in temperature control. The Asset+ team are liaising carefully with the Boroughs estates team and incumbent FM throughout the first phase of works to ensure the measures are integrated correctly within the buildings operational environment.
