sset+ are delighted to announce their appointment by the London Borough of Barnet to deliver a 5 year energy performance contract.
Asset+ will carry out an analysis of energy and carbon saving measures and present a costed plan, which will be financed via a 5 year 0% salix loan. Asset+ will then implement the energy saving works across Council assets, guaranteeing the results over the 5 year period. The London Borough of Barnet has an asset portfolio worth over £1.3 billion, including libraries, depots, schools, community buildings, and to date has undertaken a limited number of energy efficiency measures.
Fourteen providers listed under the National Framework Agreement for Energy Performance Contracting (the “RE:FIT framework”) were invited to bid. Following a competitive tendering process via Barnet Procurement, Asset+ were selected. Submitted bids were evaluated and moderated using a scoring process based on guidance from the Greater London Authority to select the winning contractor. This looked at the bidder’s project management, analysis and design, strategic goals and wider benefits, pricing approach, as well as overall price.
This project will contribute towards the Council’s financial sustainability, reducing the amount spent per annum on running costs (electricity, heating) which will be used to repay the salix loan over 5 years. The project also contributes towards environmental sustainability, as energy use will be reduced and is seen as very important project for Barnet to improve its assets aligned with the strategic aim of reducing costs and saving money.
Paul Burnett, Managing Director of Asset+ said:‘We are delighted to have been selected by the London Borough of Barnet to reduce energy, carbon and ultimately money across their significant asset portfolio. We will be utilising our award winning partnership approach to significantly reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions via an extensive and eclectic mix of measures. These savings will be guaranteed over a 5 year period. This appointment alongside our existing appointments with the London Borough of Hounslow and also the London Borough of Lambeth extends our presence across key London Boroughs. This selection against stiff competition underpins our status as the UK’s leading energy performance specialist.’
