Hammersmith and Fulham Council has appointed Asset Plus to work in partnership to retrofit all corporate buildings and grant-maintained schools within operational control, to a net zero standard.  This is in adherence to the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s (LBHF) Climate Strategy, which has the full support of the Council and senior officials as one of six core values for the organisation.

The Council is an inner London authority providing a range of services, with assets including a significant portfolio of grant-maintained schools and social housing. In 2019, LBHF set a target of making all assets and operations net zero carbon by 2030, and emissions from corporate buildings and schools are a highly visible and important part of this net zero ambition. In 2019/20, corporate buildings and schools accounted for about 8,000 tonnes of CO2e per year, consuming around 18 GWh of electricity and 26GWh of gas. A substantial programme of deep building retrofits is now being developed by the Asset+ team to ensure this can be achieved by 2030.

‘This appointment continues to highlight our position as the UK’s decarbonisation partner of choice. The Hammersmith and Fulham team have shown throughout the tendering process that they are 100% committed to achieving their Net Zero goals and we are delighted to be working with them to execute their objectives.’ Paul Burnett – Managing Director, Asset+
