Asset+ are delighted to announce the appointment by the Royal Borough of Greenwich to be their partner for decarbonisation and energy efficiency across the Corporate Estate. The Royal Borough of Greenwich is one of only four royal boroughs in England and Wales. The Borough lies along the south bank of the river Thames and has an area of 5,044 hectare, while its population recorded in 2011 is over 250,000 people.

The Corporate Estate has some 654 assets of which 446 are considered to contribute to CO2 emissions long term of which some 156 are occupied by staff directly delivering Council services. Priority 1 for the Council is the decarbonisation of those 156 properties where Council services are delivered from.

This decarbonisation scheme procured through the GLA’s Retrofit Accelerator – Workplaces programme, extends the great work delivered by the Asset+ team on the Boroughs school estate and continues to build on the strong relationships created with the Greenwich team who have big ambitions across the Borough.

This award underpins the Councils declaration of a climate emergency and is a significant contribution to Greenwich’s Carbon Neutral Plan which sets out the following ambitions;

  • Zero carbon heat networks to serve 13,000 homes
  • All Council owned non-domestic buildings to achieve EPC rating C or above
  • All heating to non-domestic Council buildings to be de-fossilized
  • Council’s fleet to be 100% zero carbon
  • Investment in renewables to reach 30 Megawatts of solar PV installed
  • Deployment of battery technology to maximise use of produced renewable energy

“Our business mission is to enable organisations, such as the Royal Borough of Greenwich to meet and exceed their climate commitments and ensure they are positioned to thrive in a Decarbonised, Decentralised and Digitalised future. We are absolutely delighted to have secured this key partnership and are excited to be extending our relationship with Greenwich.”
