Asset+ has been appointed by the London Borough of Hackney as their partner to identify and deliver a range of projects that accelerate the Council’s action on climate change. The Council recently declared a climate emergency with an ambition to reach a Net Zero Carbon target by 2040. The Council have identified that the retrofitting of existing housing stock and corporate assets is a priority of this strategy.
This award through the Mayor of London’s Retrofit Accelerator – Workplaces programme, underlines Hackney Councils declaration of a climate emergency and their objectives of achieving carbon neutrality whilst increasing capacity within the Hackney community for green skills. The programme includes the identification of opportunities to help inform the allocation of capital budgets for decarbonisation of the Council’s building portfolio. It is also anticipated that this decarbonisation programme of works will increase the capacity within the borough for associated skills and capabilities. The Asset+ team will be working closely with the Hackney economic development team to achieve this aim.
“Once again this appointment by the London Borough of Hackney is testament to the fantastic work our team have put in to build such a strong reputation and successful track record in this critical area of decarbonising existing building stock. This award provides us with an opportunity to continue strengthening our position as the UK’s leading independent energy performance specialist”
