Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has selected Asset+ as its energy performance partner to carry out a 10 year energy infrastructure upgrade programme across its significant property and land portfolio.

Asset+ have already identified a wide range of energy and carbon saving measures for the initial sites, which will then be implemented with the energy savings being guaranteed through the RE:FIT Framework over the life of the payback.

Dudley sits in the heart of the Black Country, a region that was pivotal to the industrial revolution. To this day energy is still vitally important to the day-to-day operation of the various buildings and sites. Rising energy costs, and concern for the environment mean that the Council needed to take action to reduce usage and look to alternative forms of low-carbon or renewable generation. During 2016/17 the Authority spent approximately £5.7 million on utilities supplied to corporate buildings.

The initial phase of works being implemented by Asset+ comprises several energy-intensive buildings, such as leisure centres, offices with server rooms, and the Council’s main office building, with the works being partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The rest of the portfolio being assessed for future phases, includes schools, and land with potential for large scale renewable and decentralised energy.

Paul Burnett, Managing Director of Asset+ said:Our business mission is to enable organisations, such as Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council to meet and exceed their climate commitments and ensure they are positioned to thrive in a Decarbonised, Decentralised and Digitalised future. To be selected against such strong competition to undertake this 10 year programme is testament to the hard work of our team, who have built a solid reputation for the delivery of energy and carbon infrastructure upgrades, operating cost savings and ultimately healthier more sustainable buildings. We are looking forward to delivering on this partnership and exceeding the commitments we have made to Dudley and reinforcing our status as the UK’s leading independent energy performance specialist.’
