We are delighted to have supported Hounslow Council to be the first approved grant application under the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. The application covers 33 schools in the West London Borough with a focus on heat decarbonisation and energy bill reduction. The Asset+ team worked around the clock in collaboration with the Councils energy team to provide a robust bid application by the initial deadline under the scheme.  This has been rewarded by being the first application to be approved through this ground breaking grant scheme with feedback that the bid was “a well evidenced business case with robust costs and savings”.

The Grant Scheme is being delivered by Salix and offers £1bn of grant funding, which aligns with BEIS’ new mission and priorities: fighting coronavirus, backing business, unleashing innovation and tackling climate change. The scheme also encourages green investment, supporting the Government’s net zero and clean growth goals.

The scheme finances up to 100% of the cost of capital for energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation projects that meet the scheme criteria within public sector non-domestic buildings, including central government departments and arm’s length bodies in England only and delivers the following objectives:

  • Deliver stimulus to the energy efficiency and heat decarbonisation sectors, supporting jobs.
  • Deliver significant carbon savings within the public sector

“This is a credit to the combined effort and hard work of the Councils energy group and our engineering and investment team. This scheme will bring investment, employment and significant carbon reduction across the Hounslow community whilst also reducing school energy bills at this critical time.”
